The Kuari Pass Trek is a popular trek in Uttarakhand, India, often referred to as the "Curzon Trail" as it was first explored by the then Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon. For a more challenging and rewarding experience, trekkers often combine Kuari Pass Trek with the Pangarchulla Peak summit. The trail to Pangarchula Peak typically starts from Tugashi Village after which you head towards the summit. The final summit climb of Pangarchula involves traversing a steep, rocky sections, requiring good physical fitness and a sense of adventure. However, it offers panoramic views of the Nanda Devi, Trishul, Dunagiri, Chaukhamba, and other peaks.
Reach Rishikesh before 7 a.m. in the Morning. At sharp 7 a.m. from Tapovan in Rishikesh we start our journey towards Tugashi Villag. It is going to be a scenic one as we will be passing through the 5 Prayagas. The total distance will be 260kms which will take 8-9 hours to reach Tugashi. This village is located at just 20 kms from Joshimath in Chamoli district of Uttrakhand. Tugashi Village is a quaint hemlet which serves as the road head (base camp) for Kuari Pass & Pangarchulla Peak Trek. Dinner & Overnight Stay will be in a homestay at Tugashi.
After having breakfast at Tugashi we head towards Gulling Top. Today's trek is short so we will start after 9 a.m. The total trekking distance is 3kms and the altitude gain will be roughly around 500mts. It is going to take 3-4 hours to reach our destination of the day .Upon arrival at Gulling lunch will be served followed by evening tea and snacks. After Dinner rest for the day in the twilight camps.
After breakfast we head towards Khulara The trail from Gulling to Khullara mostly passes through a pine tree forest. We came across flowing streams, some of which were frozen. We trek for 6kms in approximately 5hrs to reach our destination of the day. Lunch, evening snacks and dinner at Khulara campsite. Overnight stay at Khulara Campsite.
Today we start very early around 3a.m. After having our breakfast we head towards Pangarchula Peak. For the first 3kms it will be a steep trail and the last 3kms will be challenging as we gain good amount to altitude now. Approximately around 10 a.m. we will reach the Summit of Pangarchulla. After that we decend down for 3 kms and then change our course towards Kuari Pass which is just 3 kms (both ways) from the diversion. Packed lunch will be provided en-route. Then after that we descend for another 3kms upto Khulara Top. Snacks & Tea willl be provided upon arrival at Khulara followed by the dinner. Retire for the day in the camps at Khulara.
Re-energize after having your morning breakfast. Then we descend back to Tugashi via Gulling. This 9kms of trek will take 6-7 hours to complete. Lunch will be provided en-route. Evening snacks and Dinner will be provided in the same homestay . Overnight stay at Tugashi.
After breakfast we head head back to Rishikesh around 7 a.m. in the morning. We reach Rishikesh around 6p.m. in the evening. Early or late arrival in Rishikesh is subject to traffic and road conditions so plan your return journey accordingly. Just remember, only the trek ends here but memories live on!!
1. In case of any Natural or Political conditions leading to Road Closure, Bad Weather or any obstruction in Trekking will result in the Cancellation of the Trek.
2. In case of excessive Snow or Bad Weather, the decision of moving forward on the trek or descending back will be solely taken by the Trek Guide considering the Safety of the Trekkers.
3. The Transportation will Depart at 6 a.m. from Dehradun & 7 a.m. from Rishikesh
4. The Transportation charges are Rs 1800/- per person for both the sides and to be paid directly to the Driver. However you need to confirm your Transportation requirement 3 days prior to your Trek.
5. Information regarding the Boarding Points, Driver Contact & Vehicle details will be provided to you 1 day prior over WhatsApp.
6.The Transportation will not wait if you don’t reach timely or don’t Communicate with the Driver.
7. You are advised to Carry Cash before commencing your journey.
8. There will be no Network & Electricity on the Trek. Tugashi Village is going to be the last point for the same.
