The Kedarkantha Trek is a popular winter trekking destination located in the Garhwal region of the Indian Himalayas. This trek offers breathtaking views of snow-clad peaks, lush pine forests, and picturesque landscapes, making it an ideal choice for both beginners and experienced trekkers. The trek usually commences from Sankri village, a charming hamlet adorned with rustic wooden houses and surrounded by lush pine forests. As one ascends through the trail, the scenery transforms from dense forests to vast meadows blanketed with wildflowers during spring and snow during the winter months. The ever-changing landscape captivates trekkers at every turn, featuring panoramic views of snow-capped peaks like Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak. One of the highlights of the Kedarkantha Trek is its summit which rewards trekkers with a breathtaking 360-degree view of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Start from Dehradun early early in the morning around 7 and drive to Sankri, the base camp for the Kedarkantha trek.The road journey from Dehradun to Sankri goes through amazing picturesque locations. Sankri, a picturesque village located at an altitude of 6,455 ft (1920 mts) serves as the starting point for the trek. You'll spend the night here, acclimatizing to the altitude. Accomdation will be in the dormitory of the hotel/guest house.
Start the trek from Sankri after breakfast. The trail passes through dense forests of oak and rhododendron trees. Reach Juda ka Talab, a serene lake situated at an altitude of around 9,885 ft (9,100 mts). Set up camp near Juda ka Talab, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and overnight camping there.
Leave Juda ka Talab after an early breakfast. The trail ascends gradually, offering panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges.
Reach Kedarkantha base, a picturesque location surrounded by snow-capped peaks at an altitude of 11,250 ft (3,430 mts).
Enjoy the breathtaking views and Overnight camping at the base.
The trek starts very early in the morning around 2 a.m. to the peak at 12,500 ft (3810 mts). The summit offers spectacular views of godly peaks like Bandarpoonch, Kala nag, and Swargarohini, and other peaks. After reaching the summit, spend some time enjoying the panoramic views and clicking photographs. Descend back to base camp, rest there for a while and continue the trek towards Juda ka Talab. Retire for the day in the campsite at Juda.
Departure towards Dehradun / Mussorie after breakfast. Drive back to Rishikesh and conclude the Kedarkantha Trek. It's time to bid farewell to the mountains and your co-trekkers. Only the trek ends here but the memories live on..!

Nearest Airport: Jolly Grant Airport located at the distance of 20 Kms from both Dehradun & Rishikesh
Nearest Railhead: Dehradun Railway Station located in Dehradun.
Proper Gear: Carry appropriate trekking gear including warm clothing, trekking shoes, and necessary equipment for sub-zero temperatures. You may rent it from the Base Camp as well.
Fitness: Basic fitness is recommended for trekking at high altitudes. Prior fitness preparation like walking, jogging, or light exercises can be beneficial.
Acclimatization: Take breaks to acclimatize to high altitudes, especially if feeling breathless or dizzy.
