Brahmatal Trek is a popular winter trekking destination located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Nestled in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas, this trek offers mesmerizing views of snow-capped peaks, dense forests, alpine meadows, and a frozen lake, making it a favorite among adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers. It is known for its breathtaking beauty, offering panoramic views of majestic peaks like Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Maiktoli, and Kamet. The trek provides an excellent vantage point for capturing the snow-covered Himalayan range.The trek takes you to 2 lakes namely Bekultal and Brahmatal. These are stunning high-altitude lakes that remains frozen during the winter months. The trail passes through dense forests of oak and rhododendron trees. Trekkers might spot various Himalayan bird species and, if fortunate, may encounter wildlife like Himalayan monal, foxes, and occasionally, leopards.

How to Reach

Base Camp: Sankri village serves as the base camp for the Kedarkantha trek.
Nearest Airport: Jolly Grant Airport located at the distance of 20 Kms from both Dehradun & Rishikesh
Nearest Railhead: Dehradun Railway Station located in Dehradun.

 

Essential Tips

Proper Gear: Carry appropriate trekking gear including warm clothing, trekking shoes, and necessary equipment for sub-zero temperatures. You may even rent it from the Base Camp.
Fitness: Basic fitness is recommended for trekking at high altitudes. Prior fitness preparation like walking, jogging, or light exercises can be beneficial.
Acclimatization: Take breaks to acclimatize to high altitudes, especially if feeling breathless or dizzy.
